Ingredient Highlights:
- Sunflower seeds: The #1 ingredient in Somersaults, these kernels are sourced from the beautiful, sunny yellow flowers and offer an excellent source of protein.
- Sesame seeds: Harvested from the flower of a sesame plant, when toasted, these tiny seeds add an excellent nutty flavor to recipes.
- High oleic sunflower oil: This all-natural oil has the highest monounsaturated oleic acid content (80 percent) of any commercially available cooking/salad oil, including olive oil.
- Cinnamon: This naturally sweet spice is obtained from the inner bark of the cinnamon tree, native to South East Asia. Baked into our Cinnamon Crunch it balances out the sweet nutty flavor while contributing a great source of fiber, iron, and calcium.
- Sea Salt: Baked in the sun, sea salt rises when the salt water beneath it evaporates. The slurry of salt and clay is scraped from the ground, rinsed with pure seawater, and then lightly baked to release the dried salts.
About Somersaults:
Somersaults are the creation of a handful of San Francisco Bay Area natural foodies, who, disenchanted by unsatisfying snacks, wanted a nourishing, tasty and nutritionally impactful option for active people. The creators of Somersaults discovered that seeds are the new nut--offering the perfect balance of protein, fiber, and nutrition with an excellent crunch and delightful flavor--yet with less calories and fat. The Somersault creators loved the nut-free nutrition of seeds so much that they nominated the sunflower seed as their own personal nutritional superhero, choosing it to be the #1 ingredient in every Somersault they bake.
